The perfumer: Antonio Gardoni

Antonio Gardoni is both an architect and a perfumer, two professions that he considers to share a common sensibility: experience. According to him, creating architecture or a perfume arouses the same emotion, like that of entering a Michelangelo library in Florence or discovering the scent of a tuberose absolute for the first time. These experiences transcend knowledge and prejudices to touch the purity of nature.

His interest in perfumery dates back to the age of eight or nine, when he began exploring nature and experimenting with plants. This led him to formulate perfumes, seeking to recreate the sensory aspects of nature. After years of experimenting with natural raw materials, he created his first perfume, Maai, five years ago. The perfume was an unexpected success, with enthusiastic reactions from the public.

Far from following the traditional codes of perfumery, Gardoni prefers to experiment freely. Maai was designed without reference to the classics, and it is a happy accident that its fragrance recalls the chypres of yesteryear. His approach is a personal exploration, where intuition and instinct play a primordial role.
