Inspirations

Montecristo is inspired by a rocky and deserted island, lost in the Mediterranean off the coast of Elba. Wild, mysterious and untamed, it was once a haven for pirates before being immortalized by Alexandre Dumas in The Count of Monte Cristo.

This fragrance captures the raw, sun-drenched soul of this isolated land.
A woody, honeyed, spicy and resinous extract, dedicated to helichrysum, the emblematic wild flower of the Mediterranean basin. The quintessential sun flower, also known as Immortelle, it reveals a dry, bitter and powerful, almost medicinal facet that lingers long after cutting.

Montecristo opens with warm, vibrant, liqueur-like and spicy notes, reminiscent of an amber-colored spirit enjoyed under a blazing sun. Quickly, a golden halo of honey, beeswax, and propolis envelops the composition, bringing a profound sweetness contrasted by the aromatic bitterness of helichrysum.

The background is anchored in a dark, mineral material.
An elegant Laotian oud, combined with rockrose, sacred frankincense, and myrrh, recreates the atmosphere of sun-baked rocks, burning resins, and wild vegetation. The song of cicadas, the warmth of the stones, and the dry island air hypnotize and seduce the traveler.

Montecristo is a fragrance of character, intense and sunny, on the border between the sacred and the wild.

The perfumer: Alex Postiglione & Michel Marin

Michele Marin is a passionate Italian perfume designer, whose rich and eclectic artistic journey shines through in each of his olfactory creations. His fascination with perfume began at the age of thirteen, marked by a powerful memory: the scent of "Jardin de Bagatelle" by Jean-Paul Guerlain. This moment, which captivated him and sharpened his senses, became the starting point of a life dedicated to olfactory emotions.

Before devoting himself to perfumery, Michele explored the world of cinema, theater, and opera, collaborating with masters such as Franco Zeffirelli and Marco Bellocchio. These artistic experiences forged his sensitivity and enriched his creative vocabulary, laying the foundations of his unique and immersive universe. Determined to transform his passion into art, he trained in Paris at Cinquième Sens, then in Italy with a confirmed nose, thus strengthening his skills in composition and technique.

His professional career led him to become director of the Bar à Parfums-Olfattorio in Florence and to collaborate with the Etro house. In 2013, Michele founded Infragranti Parfumeur, a workshop where he develops personalized fragrances and creates prestigious collaborations with fashion, hospitality and decoration brands. Over the years, he has collaborated with houses such as Roy Roger's, Anima Mundi, and Francesca Dell'Oro, and has designed room fragrances for iconic locations such as the Castello di Ama.

His talent is crowned with success: his creations, including "Animal Café" (Extra Virgo) and "Else" (Francesca Dell'Oro), were finalists at the Art and Olfaction Awards, establishing his work within niche artisanal perfumery. Today, Michele Marin is a perfumer appreciated for his intimate, poetic and sensory approach, mixing technique, emotion, and a deep respect for the quality of the natural materials that he carefully selects.

Extra virgo

Extra Virgo is an Italian artisanal perfume house founded by Prince Alex of Limbin and based in the Montecucchi Castle near Florence. It is distinguished by its small-batch creations, composed of exceptional quality ingredients, inspired by the rich cultural and botanical heritage of the region. Each fragrance is an exploration of the contrasts between the sacred and the profane, capturing the very essence of life.

The Forbidden Botanicals collection embodies this philosophy, revisiting historical and controversial plants, such as cannabis, cocoa and tobacco. These ingredients, once linked to ritual or medicinal uses, are here transformed into new and daring olfactory experiences. True to its values of authenticity and precision, Extra Virgo designs each perfume with carefully selected raw materials and composes them by hand at the château.

The brand also highlights unique artistic collaborations, such as the Spirito Santo perfume extract, created in a limited edition with Carnale magazine. This fragrance, blending Italian citrus and Omani incense, celebrates the duality of light and shadow.

Extra Virgo thus offers contemporary perfumery rooted in Italian tradition, but turned towards innovation, offering a sensory exploration of plants and ancient rituals.
