Inspirations

A singular exploration of the botanical world, built around an unexpected ingredient: the artichoke. Its green, slightly bitter facet meets the aromatic, sun-drenched nuances of immortelle.

Little by little, the composition softens under warm beeswax and luminous honey. Carob and cocoa butter provide a rounded, slightly gourmand depth to the base, without erasing the fragrance’s vegetal character.

A strange and textured creation, on the border between green, honeyed, and gourmand.
The perfumer: Maqueda

Behind Maqueda Perfume lies a singular figure: Maqueda, a chemist by training, a perfumer by obsession, and an explorer of the invisible by inner necessity. It is in what he calls "his cellar"—an obscure, silent laboratory resembling an alchemical workshop—that he composes his creations. There, surrounded by vials, raw materials, and notebooks scribbled with symbols, he gives birth to a radical, esoteric, and intensely embodied perfumery.

Unlike those who seek beauty in purity or classical harmony, Maqueda is interested in the transformation of matter, in that precise moment when perfume becomes a rite, a threshold, an ordeal. His approach is rooted in his rigorous knowledge of chemistry, but it is his taste for ancient symbolic systems, decomposition processes, and occult rituals that forges his artistic signature.

Each fragrance he creates explores the *nigredo* phase, that black and dense stage of alchemy where everything must disintegrate before it can be reborn. He works with exceptionally high concentrations of raw materials, not for the sake of luxury, but to provoke a voluntary sensory saturation, an overflowing of the olfactory threshold that forces one to feel differently.

His cellar is not merely a workspace; it is a sanctuary. He descends into it as one descends into oneself, to distill light within darkness, emotion within matter. Far from the media tumult, Maqueda cultivates shadow, silence, and the art of disappearing behind his perfumes. He refuses the spectacle of the creator to better let the very essence of things speak.

Maqueda does not offer perfumes to wear. He proposes experiences to traverse.

Maqueda Perfume

Maqueda Perfume is an independent perfume house born in Italy, at the crossroads of olfactory experimentation and esoteric exploration. Far from the classic standards of perfumery, Maqueda distinguishes itself through a mystical and alchemical approach to fragrance, where each creation becomes a sensory ritual, a fragment of dark poetry inspired by forgotten traditions and the metamorphoses of matter.

The core of the creative process lies in the interpretation of occult and spiritual rituals from around the world. The founder, a true seeker of extreme emotions, draws inspiration in particular from the concept of nigredo, the black phase of alchemical transmutation, to give birth to raw, profound, and intentionally disorienting compositions. Decomposition, organic transformation, and sensory saturation become the guiding threads of a conceptual and radical perfumery.

At Maqueda, experimentation is king, and each perfume pushes the limits of the material. The exceptionally high concentrations of natural ingredients bear witness to a rare olfactory generosity, designed to provoke a sensory shock from the very first spray. This intentional saturation evokes the first stage of a sensory tolerance threshold, where the body and mind must adapt to fully embrace the experience.

Due to this richness in raw materials, often used without excessive dilution to preserve their integrity, it is recommended to apply the perfumes to clothing rather than directly to the skin, in order to avoid potential allergic reactions, particularly for those with sensitive skin.

Maqueda Perfume is much more than a fragrance. It is an alchemical act, a dive into the dark zones of the soul, a powerful sensory experience for those who dare to explore the invisible territories of emotion.
