Inspirations

A scent of the forbidden, a scent of passion.

A composition conceived as a surrender, an ode to boundless love.

Jasmine and rose open with a rich, almost carnal floral intensity. Ylang-ylang accentuates this sensuality, bringing an exotic, enveloping warmth.

Little by little, the fragrance softens. Sandalwood creates a creamy texture, while vanilla diffuses a subtle, never excessive sweetness. In the base, musks prolong the sensation on the skin, with a sensual and addictive dimension.

A dense and enveloping composition, built around the skin, evolving between floral opulence and warm softness.

Perfumer: Jean-Claude Gigodot

Jean-Claude Gigodot is a discreet but essential figure in French niche perfumery. Initially trained as a chemist, he began his career at De Laire, where he learned the fundamentals of the trade from leading figures and developed a deep knowledge of raw materials and classic accords.

He then continued his career at Givaudan, where he collaborated with Jean-Claude Ellena and Lucien Ferrero, among others. Together, they experimented with a new creative approach, based on co-signing formulas and a more liberated vision of composition.

In the 1970s, he participated in the revival of the Lautier Fils house, before meeting Jean Laporte, founder of L’Artisan Parfumeur. This meeting marked a major turning point: Gigodot contributed to some iconic creations, including the iconic Mûre et Musc (1978) and the famous Boules d’Ambre.

He then accompanied Jean Laporte for over 30 years, notably during the creation of Maître Parfumeur et Gantier in 1988, while also working for numerous independent houses such as Maison Incens and Au Pays de la Fleur d’Oranger.

Originally from Grasse, Jean-Claude Gigodot embodies a perfumery centered on the essential: clear formulas, particular attention to materials, and an artisanal approach now passed on to his son, perpetuating a family tradition of perfumery.

Maison Incens

Founded in 2013 by Philippe Constantin, Maison Incens is a French niche perfumery built around a very personal vision of perfume, encompassing memory, identity, and raw materials.

Born from a pivotal meeting with perfumer Jean-Claude Gigodot, the brand embodies an artisanal approach, where composition takes precedence over discourse. The creations are conceived as unique olfactory signatures, eschewing trends, with a particular focus on the quality of ingredients and the balance of accords.

The world of Maison Incens oscillates between warmth and depth. Woods, resins, musks, and amber accords play a central role, often contrasted by brighter or floral touches. The result is textured, embodied fragrances that are both modern and timeless.

Maison Incens thus develops perfumery with character, where each creation seeks less to immediately captivate than to settle on the skin and evolve with it.
