Inspirations

Hungary, 17th century. Behind the icy walls of Čachtice Castle lies the story of Erzsébet Báthory, a Hungarian countess whose name remains associated with one of history's most macabre legends. Accused of torturing and murdering numerous young women, she is said, according to myth, to have bathed in blood in the hope of eternally preserving her youth.

It is from this blurred boundary between historical reality, superstition, and the obsession with beauty that Erzsébet is born, a creation from Spiritica's Crime Collection, signed by Miguel Matos and Daniele Muratori Caputo.

The composition opens with icy aldehydes, pierced by the green and metallic facets of violet leaf. Black pomegranate reveals a dark acidity, while a bloody, almost ferrous accord evokes the coldness of freshly spilled blood.

At the heart of this creation reigns an opulent, creamy, and deeply carnal tuberose. Jasmine sambac amplifies its sensuality, while powdery iris and faded rose recall the fragility of a beauty condemned to disappear. An accord of old-fashioned soap comes to disturb this floral ensemble, evoking purification rituals, porcelain baths, and delicately scented skin.

In the base, cold white musks, sandalwood, and Cashmeran envelop the composition in an almost spectral softness. Suede suggests the touch of skin, while wet stone recalls the castle walls. Benzoin and labdanum extend this atmosphere with a resinous and sensual depth.

Erzsébet is a confrontation between purity and corruption, sensuality and death. A blood-stained tuberose, as fascinating as it is disturbing, born from the obsession with a beauty that refuses to die.
